During the short absence of Mr.
J. H. Kemp on full pay as Deputy Registrar, Supreme Court,
Mr. Melbourne drew in addition the equivalent of one
quarter of the pay of Deputy Registrar, Supreme Court, from
the lapsing salary of the First Police Magistrate.

Mr. J. R. Wood (a) during the
absence of Mr. Kemp drew half pay as Assistant Land
Officer, Southern District of the New Territories, plus
half pay as First Police Magistrate: (b) during the
absence of Mr. Wolfe, drew half his own pay as Assistant
Land Officer, Southern District of the New Territories,
plus half the pay of Second Police Magistrate; and, as
Mr. Wolfe reverted to his full pay as Assistant Registrar-
General for the period of his absence, Mr. Hutchison who
was acting as Assistant Registrar-General drew from the
lapsing half pay of Inspector of Schools a sum equivalent
to the difference between the full pay of Passed Cadet and
the sum of the half pay of Passed Cadet and the half pay
of Assistant Registrar-General; while Mr. Wood was permit-
ted to draw in addition one half of the balance of the
lapsing half pay of Inspector of Schools after the
deduction
